New Student Programs | First-Year Student Emails

JULY 28, 2021

Hi there!

Much of our focus this summer has been on preparing your student for their academic transition to Emory, but we know that their experience on campus happens both inside and outside the classroom. Your student’s well-being and sense of belonging are priorities at Emory. We encourage all of our students to take care of themselves – mentally, physically, and socially, as well as academically.

At Emory, there are countless opportunities to build community. Emory Campus Life is a great starting point and has a lot to offer, allowing students to engage in whatever feels right for them...

  1. Get involved // Your student can join student organizations, attend events, engage in service, participate in residence life, or seek student employment – just to name a few.
  2. Get support // With offices like Belonging and Community Justice (BCJ), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Health Promotion, and Student Case Management – among so many more – there are resources available to help your student feel welcome and find success.
  3. Get connected // Valuing the diversity of Emory’s student population means creating intentional spaces for your student to share their experiences and find community.

New Student Checklist
Submit Test Scores, Previous Credit, International Exams, and/or Your Final High School Transcript by July 31!

Your student is required to submit their final high school transcript, international exams, and previous institution transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. More information is available in their Admitted Student’s Portal. They can check the status of their AP/IB credit by logging into OPUS, clicking the Academic Records tile, and selecting 'View Transfer Credit Report.'

Scores received by July 31 will be posted prior to registration on August 9. If your student is still waiting to receive AP scores (we know some are due on August 16), we will work with them after they receive their scores as needed.

Our next Family Friday webinar presentation is this Friday, July 30. Staff members from Housing, Dining, and Residence Life will provide information and answer questions to help you prepare for the Move-in process in a few weeks!

If you have specific accessibility needs for Move-in, we encourage you to contact in advance, so that the Transportation and Parking Services team can help ensure you have a positive experience on campus.
