New Student Programs | First-Year Student Emails

FY PARENTS + FAMILIES

MAY 26, 2021

Hi there, Parents and Families,

With each of our messages, our goal is to help you (and your student), understand what being an Emory student is all about. Our team has prepared these summer communications in a way that provides you with the right topics of information at the right time throughout the summer. We're also being intentional about the volume of information in each message, because we know that you and your student want to be able to celebrate the end of their high school experience while enjoying some rest and relaxation before college begins.

In this email, we have some information on our Family Friday webinar series starting on June 4, our Emory Lingo guide and more!

Family Friday Webinar
We’re kicking off our Family Friday webinar series on June 4 with a general "Welcome Families" edition! In partnership with the Office of Parent and Family Programs, we will present an overview of what to expect throughout the Orientation Experience. We will also cover the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and how your student can give family members access to Emory’s student information system (OPUS).

If you can't join us live, all webinars will be recorded and posted by the following week. You can find the full calendar, descriptions, and access information on our website.

Emory Lingo Guide

Your student is about to start using a lot of Emory terminology, from The College to the DCT and their SA to PRA. Don’t worry! To help you “speak Emory” we compiled a list of commonly used Emory-isms for you to review!
