New Student Programs | First-Year Student Emails

JULY 28, 2021

Hi there, {{Preferred}}!

Much of our focus this summer has been on preparing you for the academic transition to Emory, but we also want to make sure you have what you need to feel at home here on campus!

Beyond the classroom, there are countless opportunities to build community, and being successful as a college student also means taking care of yourself – not just academically but also mentally, physically, and socially. Emory Campus Life is a great starting point and has a lot to offer. There is no one way to connect with your fellow Eagles or to get to know the Atlanta area. Instead, you can choose to engage in whatever way feels right for you.

  1. Get involved // Join student organizations, attend events, participate in service projects, or seek student employment – just to name a few! There are many ways to get involved with your new campus community.
  2. Get support // Many resources are available to help you feel welcome and find success. You’ll find them with offices like Belonging and Community Justice (BCJ), Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Health Promotion, and Student Case Management – among so many more.
  3. Get connected // Valuing the diversity of Emory’s student population means creating intentional spaces for you to share your experiences and find community, starting with your new home in your residence hall.

New Student Checklist
Submit Test Scores, Previous Credit, International Exams, and/or Your Final High School Transcript by July 31!

All students are required to submit a final high school transcript, international exams, and previous institution transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. More information is available in your Admitted Student’s Portal. Only scores received by July 31 will be posted in OPUS before you register on August 9.

If you are still waiting on test scores, we ask that you submit them as soon as you receive them (we are expecting College Board to post on August 16).

We will support students who received their scores after July 31 and may need help with registration after August 16.

You can check the status of your AP/IB credit by logging into OPUS, clicking the Academic Records tile, and selecting View Transfer Credit Report.

Connect with Your Class!
We’re launching a quick and easy way to get introduced to another incoming student before you move to campus! All you need to do is submit the request form by this Monday, August 2nd by 5:00 p.m. ET with some brief information about yourself. (Submissions after this time will not be accepted due to the proximity to the start of the school year.)

The Campus Life Team will pair you as soon as possible with another new student who has similar interests. That way, you can “meet up” prior to Orientation and already have another friendly face on campus when you arrive!

Met with your PRA and still have some questions? Have a lot of courses in your shopping cart and still trying to work out what to prioritize? Join our Academic Advising team for our Pre-Registration Webinar on Wednesday, August 4 at 12 p.m. EDT.

Course registration begins at 12 p.m. EDT on Monday. August 9.
